Differing Phosphorus Crop Availability of Aluminium and Calcium Precipitated Dairy Processing Sludge Potential Recycled Alternatives to Mineral Phosphorus Fertiliser

چکیده

The European dairy industry generates large volumes of wastewater from milk and food processing. Removal phosphorus (P) by complexing with metal (e.g., aluminium, calcium) cations in P rich sludge is a potential source for agricultural reuse recycling. However, there significant knowledge gap concerning the plant availability this complexed comparison to conventional mineral fertiliser. current absence information on bioavailability processing (DPS) limits ability farmers nutrient management advisors incorporate it correctly into fertiliser programmes. present study examined most common types sludge—(1) aluminium-precipitated (“Al-DPS”) (2) calcium-precipitated lime-stabilised (“Ca-DPS”) at field scale assess grassland versus over growing season. experimental design was randomised complete block five replications. Crop yield uptake were assessed 4 harvests. initial soil test low level treatments super phosphate 15, 30, 40, 50 60 kg ha?1, two applied 40 ha?1 (comparison made same application rate) zero control single beginning Results showed positive slope relationship between response rate indicating suitability site assessment. Al- Ca-DPS varied greatly treatments. replacement value based 1st harvest 16% increased 109 31% cumulatively four harvests Ca-DPS, respectively. Al concentration Al-DPS did not limit bioavailability, but can be associated its high Ca content that lead formation soluble Ca-P compounds alkaline pH conditions Ca/P ratio. These findings show quite different depending treatment process. Consequently, critical have as well total available ensure meets crop requirements without creating environmental risk application.

Phosphorus Availability from Swine and Dairy Slurries

Compared to nitrogen (N), relatively little is known about the availability of phosphorus (P) from manure to crops. Many state extension bulletins recommend that 50-80% of total P in manure is available to crops the first year after application. This number is likely based on the fact that 35-90% of P in manures is in the inorganic form (Peperzak, et al., 1959; Barnett, 1994), which is immediat...

Availability to ponies of calcium and phosphorus from various supplements.

I T is generally considered that Ca or P are readily available to livestock from steamed bone meal, dicalcium phosphate, ground limestone and monosodium phosphate. The following experiment was conducted to investigate the absorption and retention of Ca and P by ponies fed diets containing these supplements. The work was undertaken since there are few data obtained from studies in which these su...

Plant Availability of Phosphorus in Sewage Sludge Compost

Field and greenhouse studies were conducted to compare the effectiveness of Blue Plains sewage sludge compost (BLU), Parkway sewage sludge compost (PAR), and triple superphosphate (TSP) as sources of P for corn. These amendments were applied to a Sassafras sandy loam (T> pic Hapludults) in a field study and to the Sassafras soil and a Christiana silty clay loam (Typic Paleudults) in a greenhous...

Mineral nutrition, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium interrelationships.

There are over 70 known mineral inten'elationships in which an additional dietary quantity of one mineral element wilt influence absowtion or utilization of another mineral element. As the animal ages, the readiness of availability of stored mineral dements in the bone decreases. Animals do adapt to reduced dietary intake of minerals as shown for Ca by reducing fecal excretion and increasing ab...
